Data Session 14th June 2023 – Brendan Lawson: Quantities in political panel debates

June 14, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm BST

This week, to accommodate the “Bridging Divides with Communication Research” international symposium, DARG will run at the earlier time of 12:00-13:30 UK time, as a hybrid data session. Room B124 (Brockington Building, Loughborough) or on zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82657058417?pwd=b0NqMTFJK2ZxaGc2RFQ1VExmQUFPUT09. password: DARG.

Session details: Brendan Lawson & Saul Albert will present two short extracts of data from BBC Radio 4’s flagship political panel show Any Questions that involve various uses of quantities/numbers in political debates. This data session is part of a potential project extending Brendan’s work on the use and provenance of numbers in public information (for more info, see his 2023 book: “The Life of a Number: Measurement, Meaning and the Media” from Bristol University Press).
