Submit an abstract for ‘Forensic Conversations in Criminal Justice Settings’
11th September 2024, 9:30-5:30pm, hybrid (Loughborough University/Online)
We welcome abstract submissions for both oral presentations and data sessions using EMCA methods (ethnomethodology and conversation analysis) to explore conversations in policing and criminal justice contexts. This could include (but is not limited to) work on emergency and non-emergency police calls, patrol footage, victim/suspect interviews, courtroom interactions, parole meetings etc.
Instructions
Please include a title, followed by a brief statement of the problem or issue, a description of your methods, the major findings, the conclusions reached, and three keywords (max. 300 words). You can add the text directly into the text box or upload it. Please also indicate if you would be presenting in-person or online. You can do this by adding [in-person] or [online] anywhere in the abstract text.
In the submission portal, please add the author and the name/s of the presenter/s on the right hand side.
Please indicate using the drop down list if you’re submitting to:
- Oral Presentation: We invite researchers to submit abstracts for short talks (10 mins) to share recent findings or ongoing investigations arising from the research around forensic communications.
- Data Session: We welcome submissions to host small group data sessions working with audio or video recordings and accompanying Jefferson transcripts of communication in criminal justice settings. Data can include any language, but please provide an English translation in your transcript.
Please submit your abstract by 5pm Friday 31st May.
Notification of acceptance by mid-June 2024.
