Session details: In this data session I will be presenting two short extracts from a collection I am building for my PhD research. The analytic focus for this collection is on how gendered descriptions are used in the role-play activities of preschool aged children (aged 3-4 years old) in a nursery setting, and how this may teach and uphold cis-heteronormativity. Broader observations are of course also welcome.
Definitions:
Cis-heteronormativity – the assumption that cisgender heterosexuality is the norm for relationships
Cisgender – someone whose gender identity of choice corresponds to the one assigned to them at birth
