The data is from an expert interview for a company podcast. In the excerpt, the male interviewer launches into an extended side sequence dealing with what he deems a problematic mispronunciation by the female interviewee. The sequence is rich with interactional phenomena while both interactants repeatedly compete for the floor, attempt to make sense of the new situation and to realign on the common project of the interview. Additional topics to discuss could be how identity and gender roles influence the stance and demeanour of the interactants.
