The data is from a collection of digital (text-based) service encounters on the Swedish Social Insurance Agency’s (SSIA) open-access Facebook page for parents. The SSIA, a government agency responsible for social insurances (e.g., parental benefit), posts updates on laws, rules, and how the parental benefit system works. Parents can ask questions, which are accessible to anyone to read and comment on. The SSIA advises users to ask only general questions and informs that they can only provide general responses. However, parents often ask personal questions, which practitioners must address. This session focuses on a thread where a parent has asked such a personal question. I am interested in exploring how parents’ questions and the social actions they project are reciprocated (or not) in the practitioners’ responses. Data is in Swedish, with an English translation.
